We bought a stripped out 1960’s Airstream to turn into our own off-grid eco home and needed a sustainable easy to keep cosy in the winter.
We have a free supply of wood so a wood burner was the obvious way to go, coupled with wanting to avoid adding any extra moisture into the caravan from a gas fed heater. We also wanted to find a UK made stove as we always try to support local businesses wherever we can.
When faced with the two options, the cleaner burner SE was an easy choice, we’re well aware of air quality issues from our time living in London and both have jobs in the environmental sector.
Size was a big factor; we needed to maximize the small space we have and a lot of the stoves we saw didn’t have a good window, we when we found the Hobbit with it’s large window it went to the top of the pile. The flickering of the fire continues to delight us!
We fitted it the weekend before the Beast from the East hit and have started a tradition to cook pancakes on the top every pancake day! Nothing beats a Hobbit cooked pancake!
