Small But Mighty

The Hobbit stove is a small cast iron multi-fuel stove that's able to burn wood, coal or ecologs, and it's specifically designed for installations where the space for a stove might be more limited. This makes our stove the ideal choice for small fireplaces, where larger stoves simply won’t fit. The compact size of the Hobbit also allows for any ornate period features of an older cast iron fire surround to be retained, enabling an inefficient open fire to be replaced with ease. The Hobbit and Hobbit SE are both Eco Design approved, which makes our stoves suitable for any installations that are going to take place after the 1st of January 2022.

The Hobbit’s excellent performance combined with its traditional yet elegant styling, and its superb value for money, has led to our little stove finding its home in countless small spaces and tiny homes! The Hobbit stove comes in a matte black colourway as standard. However, our stove is sure to compliment any style of decor or interior design, as we offer a broad range of additional stove options, as well as the unique ability to customise your stove top and bottom door and airflow with your own choice of colours.

Do I need the standard Hobbit or the Hobbit SE?

Our Hobbit stove is available as a standard version or the SE, DEFRA exempt model. You will need to purchase the SE if you live in a Smoke Control Area. This is an area where you cannot emit smoke from a chimney unless you are burning smokeless fuels. You can still burn wood and other fuel in a Smoke Control Area providing you are using a smoke exempt appliance, such as the Hobbit SE. If you’re unsure as to whether you live in a Smoke Control Area, then it’s worth contacting your local council to find out.

The standard Hobbit stove and the Hobbit SE have exactly the same measurements, although the Hobbit SE has some extra airflow holes to comply with regulations. This means that your fuel may burn slightly faster in the Hobbit SE, which makes it a bit harder to shut down overnight. The Hobbit SE can be used with a 5″ or a 6″ diameter chimney liner, whereas the standard Hobbit stove can only be used with a 6″ liner. If you have a narrow chimney, then you may find that you need to install the Hobbit SE even if you do not live in Smoke Control Area.
