Vaughan House
The enchanted micro wedding venue which will make you feel like a real life fairy!
Vaughan House is more than just a venue — it’s a personal story woven into the surrounding landscape. Founded by Megan and Mitch Vaughan in 2017 near the Blue Ridge Mountains, the site first emerged as a homegrown greenhouse built entirely by the couple. Originally a therapeutic project following a difficult time in their lives, this handcrafted sanctuary blossomed into something extraordinary. What began as a private, healing space quickly transformed into a beloved micro‑wedding venue as word spread about its charm and intimacy.
Constructed piece by piece over seven months, Megan and Mitch poured their hearts into every beam and pane. The greenhouse became a symbol of hope and renewal: it was completed just as they learned they were expecting their daughter, Marigold. Today, they host around 80 intimate ceremonies each year — with up to 50 guests in the greenhouse and 20 in the adjacent “Enchanted Cottage”. Couples say “I do” barefoot amidst forest foliage, warmed by the couple’s philosophy of creating sacred, nature‑rooted memories.
The aesthetic of Vaughan House is uniquely whimsical — the greenhouse, cottage, and wooded ceremony spaces feel like something out of a fairytale. Megan, who calls herself the venue’s “Fairy Godmother,” designed the interiors using inspiration from folklore, childhood books, and natural surroundings. Each corner feels curated, with a cozy stove, twinkling lights, and a reverence for the magic of the woods. It’s this attention to detail that has made Vaughan House a sought‑after spot for romantic, small‑scale weddings.
What began as a passion project has since evolved into a dynamic family business. Megan and Mitch, both seasoned in wedding photography and videography before founding the venue, found themselves pivoting during the COVID-era — transforming their backyard venue into a full-time business solution for couples whose plans had been disrupted. Their personal touch extends beyond the space: they integrate homegrown herbs into cocktails, donate leftover food and flowers to local charities, and celebrate sustainability in every aspect of the property.
Hidden away in the enchanted cottage sit two Salamander Stoves. Megan spent months working closely with Grace, our flue technician, to design a custom double flue system. Both style and practicality were important to the couple, stating they couldn’t find anything that matched the vision they had in mind – something that felt vintage and timeless — something that looked like it truly belonged in the cottage, rather than anything sleek or modern. Eventually it came together, and our small stoves are so perfectly suited to the space.
