Our Hobbit stove can easily replace an inefficient open fire!
This lovely picture was sent to us by one of our many customers who was thrilled with their Hobbit stove! This client was very happy when they discovered that they would be able to retain their Yorkist grate, and they chose a painted Hobbit stove to match the Yorkist grate and the rest of their room.
Our small stove fitted beautifully into the space where their open fire used to be, allowing it to be replaced with ease. A small wood burning stove is a much more efficient way to heat your house in comparison to an open fire. Open fires are by far the most inefficient and polluting fire you can have, as they draw large amounts of air out of the room in order to fuel the fire. Therefore, although it might feel warm in front of your fire, open fires can make your house feel colder, as the warm air that gets drawn out from the room is replaced with colder air from further inside your house. Even cold outside air can be drawn into the property if you have any draughts!

Our Hobbit stove is a small cast iron multi-fuel stove that’s able to burn wood or coal, and it’s specifically designed for installations where the space for a stove might be more limited. This makes our stove the ideal choice for small fireplaces, where other larger stoves simply won’t fit. The compact size of the Hobbit also allows for any ornate period features of an older cast iron fire surround to be retained, enabling an inefficient open fire to be replaced with ease.
