Shed Small Stove Installation Kits
A garden shed can provide the perfect little escape from the world, and they have an endless range of uses! Whether you have a tool shed, potting shed or a workshop, or if you’re just using your shed as a space to read, relax or cook, installing one of our small stoves will transform your shed into a much warmer and cosier space! Aside from their range of uses, sheds are also a fantastic option if you live in a smaller space, as they can be enjoyed in almost any garden or courtyard! Our shed flue kits have all of the components that you’ll need to install our Hobbit stove with the stand option into a shed with metal profiled roof.
When it comes to installing your small stove in a shed, it’s still just as important to adhere to the fitting parameters outlined in Approved Document J. If the shed has a timber construction, then the wall or corner where the stove is being fitted will need to be shielded to allow the stove to be fitted closer to the wall or corner. There are a wide range of non-combustible materials which can be used as shielding, such as vermiculite board, steel plates, or even wriggly tin. The stove will also need to sit on a non-combustible hearth which is at least 12mm thick, and you’ll need to have at least 225mm of space at the front of your hearth from the door of your stove. You’ll need to have 150mm of space at either side of the stove. Do I need an AD cowl?
If your shed is surrounded by trees or other buildings, then there might not be a consistent flow of air across the top of your flue. On stormy days you might experience down draught problems, where the flue draw momentarily stops. This can potentially lead to smoke being blown back into the stove. To eliminate this, the rain cap which is included in this flue kit can be swapped for an anti-down draught cowl. Shed Flue Kit 2 includes an AD cowl, and the flue is offset at an angle. Please note: It can be difficult to rigidly stick to the guidelines outlined in Part J Building Regulations when installing any stove into non-domestic settings, such as sheds, cabins, shepherds' huts, garden rooms, tiny homes, boats and other vehicles. Your installer will need to apply a degree of sensible flexibility when installing a stove into these settings.
Our flue kits have not been specifically designed to conform with Part J or other HETAS regulations. Before purchasing a flue kit, please confirm with your installer that they are happy to proceed with the parts listed.
