It made sense to kick the series off with a simple how-to video when it comes to lighting the Little Range Cook Stove. Although an instruction manual for lighting the Little Range is included with every stove, we thought a short article and an accompanying video would make this process even easier!
We have outlined some very simple and straightforward instructions below, but there is also a quick video for those who might find a visual guide more useful.
- Turn the oven baffle control to the closed ‘0’ position.
- Place two or three wood wool fire lighters onto the grate and light. Leave the top door slightly ajar and have both tertiary and secondary air controls set to the right-hand side (open position). You can open the airflow wheel and/or the bottom door if required to initiate a stronger draw. Let the firelighters burn for a few minutes, which will allow the flue to be heated.
- Add some kindling wood and let this catch for a few minutes before adding two or three small logs. Close the top door and bottom doors and adjust the air controls accordingly so that you have a steady fire that is not burning too vigorously.
- When this has burnt down and a bed of embers has started to form, additional logs or eco logs can be added to the fire box.
- To increase the oven temperature, firstly move the oven control lever to the ‘1’ position and then regularly refuel the firebox to maintain a high running fire. One full refuel should allow the oven to reach the orange segment, which is ideal for baking. When the process is continued further, this is ideal for roasting.
You can then sit back and enjoy the warmth of your fire! We would love to know what you manage to cook with your Little Range, so please feel free to tag us in your Facebook or Instagram posts. You can also contact us if you have any questions!
