Please note that our stove is not included with this installation kit. This installation kit has been designed for a non-domestic setting. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.
Please note: the black powder coated twin wall flue is a slightly different shade of black compared to the black vitreous enamel single wall flue. We do not offer the appliance connector/adapter in black powder coating when using a fully twin walled kit and it will remain in stainless due to the proximity to the stove.
if you order black powder coating the appliance connector will be stainless steel.
Product description
This flue kit provides an attractive, safe, and efficient solution for installing our small stove in a canal boat, dutch barge, or wide beam boat. It can be installed in accordance with BS:8511:2010, and it also provides a more traditional fitting with a deck flange and collar. This installation kit offers a fully twin wall flue system with an offset, in case you need to redirect your flue pipes away from combustible materials or other obstacles. There is a 1000mm length of twin wall flue in between two 15 degree twin wall elbows, which creates an offset of 278mm.
This canal boat flue kit consists of a full twin wall system, and these pipes have a 100mm internal diameter. Twin wall insulated flue parts need to be positioned at least 50mm/2″ away from combustible materials, which means that the exit hole through the inner combustible head lining needs to be 252mm in diameter. This hole is covered by the trim plate.
The exit hole through the steel hull can be 154mm diameter, giving a 2mm clearance around the flue. The first 500mm length of twin wall flue can house our D100 Bracket, that has been specifically designed to act as an adjustable support for the flue system.
The first 500mm length of twin wall is supported by the deck flange and collar that it passes through. The additional 500mm length can then be attached with the cowl. The cowl and the 500mm length can be removed and replaced by the closure cap, for when you require a shorter system when travelling under bridges. The twin wall flue parts connect into each other via a simple locking band mechanism.
If you’re looking to get stuck into some wood-fired stovetop cooking, then it’s worth configuring your stove with a rear flue wedge. This liberates the entirety of your stovetop, which gives you more space to use a kettle or any pans with your small stove.
You can also add a stainless steel cooktop option to your Hobbit stove, which allows you to cook at a range of temperatures on your stovetop. This additional stove option also helps to prevent any abrasion to your stovetop which can be caused by your pans and it can also be removed for cleaning purposes.
Alternatively, if you’re just looking to use your stovetop to heat up a kettle or a pan, then you might want to consider our gallery rail option for your small stove. This will enable you to safely cook some food or boil a kettle on your stovetop, as your kettle or pan will remain secure on your stovetop as you chug along! Please note if you have the gallery rail, to ensure you have enough space for a pan or a kettle it would be reccommended to add the rear flue wedge.
Do I need an AD cowl?
If your canal boat is surrounded by trees or other buildings, then there might not be a consistent flow of air across the top of your flue. On stormy days you might experience down draught problems, where the flue draw momentarily stops. This can potentially lead to smoke being blown back into the stove. To eliminate this, the rain cap which is included in this flue kit can be swapped for an anti-down draught cowl.
