£635.00 inc.VAT

This canal boat installation kit combines traditional styling with a powder coated deck flange and high quality, British-made flue parts manufactured by Midtherm. It contains all of the components that you will need to install a small stove in a canal boat.

This installation kit offers a fully twin wall flue system with a 278mm offset, in case you need to redirect your flue pipes away from combustible materials or other obstacles. This kit includes the following components:

  • 1x Appliance connector – to connect straight into 100mm internal diameter twin wall flue (stainless steel finish)
  • 1x 15 Degree elbow in twin wall flue pipe (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 1x 1000mm of twin wall flue pipe (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 1x 15 Degree elbow in twin wall flue pipe (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 2x 500mm of twin wall flue pipe (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 1x D100 flue bracket (stainless steel finish)
  • 1x Flue trim kit – this comprises of 3 piece deck rings, a support flange and collar with an internal trim plate (black finish)
  • 1x Rain cap cowl (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 1x Closure cap (100mm internal diameter, stainless steel finish)
  • 1x Cartridge of fire cement
  • 1x Cartridge of heatproof silicone sealant

Our small stove has a 100mm outlet and we use 100mm diameter flue. If you would like a flue kit with a 5″/125mm sizing, then please contact us to discuss your options. The offset can also be altered upon request.

Please note that our stove is not included with this installation kit. This installation kit has been designed for a non-domestic setting. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.

Please note that any new orders for flue parts could take up to 10 working days to be delivered. If you need flue parts before this, then please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss availability.

Additional Options

This flue kit provides an attractive, safe, and efficient solution for installing our small stove in a canal boat, Dutch barge, or wide beam boat. It can be installed in accordance with BS:8511:2010, and it also provides a more traditional fitting with a deck flange and collar. This installation kit offers a fully twin wall flue system with an offset, in case you need to redirect your flue pipes away from combustible materials or other obstacles. There is a 1000mm length of twin wall flue in between two 15 degree twin wall elbows, which creates an offset of 278mm.

This canal boat flue kit consists of a full twin wall system, and these pipes have a 100mm internal diameter. Twin wall insulated flue parts need to be positioned at least 50mm/2″ away from combustible materials, which means that the exit hole through the inner combustible head lining needs to be 252mm in diameter. This hole is covered by the trim plate.

The exit hole through the steel hull can be 154mm diameter, giving a 2mm clearance around the flue. The first 500mm length of twin wall flue can house our D100 Bracket, that has been specifically designed to act as an adjustable support for the flue system.

The first 500mm length of twin wall is supported by the deck flange and collar that it passes through. The additional 500mm length can then be attached with the cowl. The cowl and the 500mm length can be removed and replaced by the closure cap, for when you require a shorter system when travelling under bridges. The twin wall flue parts connect into each other via a simple locking band mechanism.

If you’re looking to get stuck into some wood-fired stovetop cooking, then it’s worth configuring your stove with a rear exit. This liberates the entirety of your stovetop, which gives you more space for you to use a kettle or any pans with your small stove.

You can also add a stainless steel cooktop option to your Hobbit stove, which allows you to cook at a range of temperatures on your stovetop. This additional stove option also helps to prevent any abrasion to your stovetop which can be caused by your pans and it’s also removable, which makes it quick and easy to clean.

Alternatively, if you’re just looking to use your stovetop to heat up a kettle or a pan, then you might want to consider our gallery rail option for your small stove. This will enable you to safely cook some food or boil a kettle on your stovetop, as your kettle or pan will remain secure on your stovetop as you chug along!

Do I need an AD cowl?

If your canal boat is surrounded by trees or other buildings, then there might not be a consistent flow of air across the top of your flue. On stormy days you might experience down draught problems, where the flue draw momentarily stops. This can potentially lead to smoke being blown back into the stove. To eliminate this, the rain cap which is included in this flue kit can be swapped for an anti-down draught cowl.

Our Hobbit Stove Has Been Fitted!

"We had a Hobbit stove fitted this week by Alex Reay from Flues and Fires, and I just wanted to get in touch to say it is AMAZING and we love it! We have a lovely cast iron tiled fireplace which I was desperate not to lose when we installed a small wood burning stove, but until I found the Hobbit on Google, everyone told me it would be impossible to keep the fire surround. The Hobbit is perfect - not only does it fit very snugly, but it looks fantastic and the blue door complements the tiles very nicely. We are sitting enjoying a fire now and absolutely loving it! Thanks for creating such an amazing product."

The Best Stove Ever!

"It’s the best stove ever! It’s easy to light, very efficient, burns anthracite and stays in overnight (ours has been in for three weeks now). It even keeps a kettle of water at the ready for a cuppa! What more can I say, we love it! Just the thing to make our Yorkshire home cosy, and the cat loves it too!"

First Small Stove Installation

Was looking for a small stove for my first self-install. Found Mark very helpful. Knowledgeable, friendly service. Stove burns well and generates lots more heat than the previous open fire. What is not to like?

A Huge Thank You!

"Dear Mark and Gill, a huge thank you for designing and making the Hobbit stove! We had two different London-based fireplace companies tell us that we simply had to knock out the old cast iron and tile fireplace to fit in a woodburning stove, and that there was no other option! Then we found you online. We are delighted with our little Hobbit, which swallows up logs and kicks out a good amount of heat. Perfect for the winter! I will also be writing to the London-based fireplace companies to put the Hobbit on their radar. Best wishes."

The Little Hobbit Has Stepped Up To The Challenge!

"We just wanted to say how impressed and how much of a life saver our little Hobbit has been! It was fitted a few months ago in our holiday home in Rhu, Scotland, which is a large open plan conversion in a Victorian house. This weekend our boiler decided it was not going to play ball. The little Hobbit has stepped up to the challenge, providing heat to a very large area, about twenty eight foot by twenty four foot with a high ceiling of about eighteen foot, keeping the room reasonably warm, warm enough for us not to use cardigans!”

Our Pride And Joy!

Fantastic!

"Just to bid you all a Happy New Year and to say how much we’re enjoying having our Hobbit stove! It was easy to fit with the help of your excellent ‘how to’ videos and we’re just awaiting our inspection by building control for the certification. The Hobbit has fitted neatly into the hearth vacated by the old gas back boiler (with a little cosmetic rendering) and never ceases to surprise us how much heat it can deliver to the point that the new condenser boiler is having an easy life, thereby saving us on gas bills too! Everyone loves having a ‘real fire’ in the living room."
