Woodfuel online review No.9 – Bio-Bean Coffee logs

bio-bean-coffee-logsIf you wanted the perfect ecolog for my tiny woodstove then look no further than these perfectly formed Hobbit sized logs. Made from old coffee grounds they are a brilliant recycling story and yes they actually do smell of coffee when they are burning! It reminded me of the smell of chocolate bananas from the bbq. Or maybe a proper coffee house where the coffee was roasted on the premises.

These are without doubt premium quality eco log briquettes, each one perfectly formed and coated with a wax to aid easy lighting.

The come in a lovely brown paper bag, 16 logs per bag and look cool enough to give to someone as a Christmas present!!

I tried them out in my Hobbit stove and lit the stove from cold in the morning using two firelighters and two of the coffee logs. The fire was quick to get going and within 15 minutes the coffee logs were well alight.

The expansion of the log meant that after another 15 mins they began to break apart which increased the length of time that the flame remained bright and lively. The first two coffee logs lasted around 1 hour before I then refueled the stove with an additional two coffee logs, sitting them on the embers of the first two. To accelerate the airflow I fully opened the air wheel and the new logs were again quick to produce a good flame and ended up producing very little ash.

This is without doubt an advanced carbon neutral biofuel. Especially as the worlds thirst for coffee grows and grows. There is a good video on the bio-bean website that explains how much of the energy of the future will be found by recycling the waste that we produce. These unique eco-logs are using a unique waste stream and should therefore be applauded just for that.

This online woodfuel product is made entirely in the UK. A unique coffee grounds recycling plant built to manufacture these wonderful little logs really does exist!. There are indeed many other much cheaper online woodfuel eco log briquettes available but none more beautifully made and packaged. Their uniqueness makes them for me worthy of having there own special place by every tiny woodstove. A log basket devoted to these bio beans will not only look good this Christmas but also make your house smell fabulous – as well as keeping you toasty warm.

Whilst a little expensive I would still rate this as a brilliant online woodfuel well worth trying. To buy a pallet of 100 bags visit the Log Barn
